Strategic Research Team undertakes research into the Adoption Process

by on 10 September, 2012

Throughout August and September this year, the Strategic Research Team at Birmingham City Council have been researching people’s experiences of the Council’s Adoption Process.

We have been undertaking in depth interviews with prospective and successful adopters to gain customer perspectives of the process, and have commissioned Qa Research to undertake a series of focus groups on our behalf.

The aim of the research is to explore what is working well and what could be changed, making recommendations for service improvements.  We are keen to understand what barriers people may experience through out the process and how these may be overcome.

The research will be involving people who have engaged in all stages of the adoption process, from people who have just made an initial enquiry, to those who have been successfully matched with children.  We are also talking to people who started the process and did not continue.

We had an overwhelming response from people wanting to get involved, and to enable all to contribute we have added an e-survey so everyone who registered to participate can provide some feedback.

The analysis will take place over October and November, and the report will be published in December.  If you would like to know more get in touch.
